52.38 % the break - even point...

The break even point when betting - 110 lines with football is 52.38 %. If you can pick winners above the break even point, then you will be a winner at the end of the football season. I am going to try and help you select the right time and correct number to bet on for you to win above the break even point.

When to bet and why ? If you are going to bet on the underdog, you should try to lay your bet as late as possible. Most people like to bet on the favorites and if most of the money is bet on the favorite, then the book will move the line to make it more attractive to bet on the dog. Most recreational bettors flock to favorites, and why not, as they are the team that should win. When betting on the favorite, you should bet right when the line comes out. The longer you wait, the higher that number becomes.

What are the key numbers ? In football the key numbers are 3, 4, 6, and 7. The books don't like to come off these numbers, especially in the NFL. If you see a line change off a key number, you can be sure that there was a lot of money to make the book move the line off a key number. Around 14 percent of games in the NFL, that is 1 out of 7, are decided by a field goal. What this means is that if a bettor can lay 2.5 and take 3.5, they would have a legit edge of the book.

You can combine this information and other homework to become a more profitable sports bettor this football season and enjoy your hobby more. May all your bets be winners !

2008 Ole Miss Rebels Football

In recognition of soaring gas prices and a struggling economy, Ole Miss would like to make Rebel football available and affordable for everyone and is pleased to announce three ticket mini-packages. The Ole Miss football team, under the direction of first-year head coach Houston Nutt, set a spring record for attendance in a 40-14 win for the Blue team in the annual Grove Bowl Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
On a bright, sunny day with the wind whipping around Hollingsworth Field, sophomore quarterback Jeven Snead completed 20-of-26 passes for 269 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Junior Dexter McCluster caught eight passes for 106 yards, while rushing for 35 yards and a touchdown.
The Rebels had another rough season last year again under Ed Orgeron. Now they’ve brought in Houston Nutt from Arkansas, and it appears there is some newfound hope for the program. They bring in Texas transfer Jevan Snead at QB, return their top five receivers and most of the OL, and will have back nearly their entire defense.

A trip to Wake Forest early on will be tough, but they are getting an ideal spot by hosting Vanderbilt in the SEC opener. The Rebels will not be scared when they travel to Florida, and they likely won’t beat South Carolina, but I think they could really do well coming off the bye week. Then they have some rough road trips to Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU and with them being underdogs they should have some covers and maybe a win or two. Head Coach Nutt knows his SEC West foes well and could be able to give them problems with an experienced bunch. I like the Ole Miss Rebels to surprise the SEC and have a much better team and coach then last year. They should be in the running for a postseason berth by season’s end.

" How to lose money with .52 seconds to go in the NFL "

October 7, 2007 was a normal Sunday for Brady. He took his family to Sunday School and Church service. The Preacher was finsihed right on time for Brady to get to his vehicle and call his bookie for the NFL bets he had.

“Hello, Brady what can I do you for today, said the bookie.” Yea what you got on Arizonia Cardnials at St. Louis Rams? I got Arizonia - 3.5. Brady asked to buy down to 3 with Arizonia and the answer was no buys of 3 in NFL remember, said the bookie. Oh yea, I forgot about that, said Brady. He knew, but thought he would try anyway. Give me the Cardnials - 3.5 for $1,000. Ok, I got you the Cardnials - 3.5 for a dime said the bookie, anything else. Yes, what you got on Cleveland Browns at the New England Patroits, I got the Patroits - 16.5 said the bookie. Brady thought for a minute and asked himself, should I buy that to + 17 just in case ? Naw, they will only beat ‘em by 13 or 14. Yea, give me the Cleveland Browns + 16.5 for $1,000 said Brady. The bookie replied, man that is the 1st time I have wrote down Cleveland today. Yes, said Brady to himself, I am on the bookies side with that one. You need anything else today ? Nope, that is it for me. OK, you got the Cardnials - 3.5 for a dime and the Browns + 16.5 for a dime. Thanks and I will be here back @ 3:30 for the afternoon games said the bookie as they ended the call.

Brady got off the phone and talked with his family about eating lunch and they decided to have the China Buffet and headed that way for lunch. When they got home Brady went and turned on the DirecTV chanel 700 to see all the scores at halftime. The Cardnials were up by 4 and the Patriots looked like they would kill again leading 20 to zero. Brady thought, hey maybe I will go 1 - 1 and lose juice again today.

Boy did Brady only wish more at the end that he could of only gone 1 - 1. With .36 seconds to go in the Cardnials game they were up 34 - 23 and winning the number by 11. Brady thought to himself while the Rams were driving, man IF they score a TD then they will try to get the 2 point conversion to cut it to a FG. Please GOD, don’t let ‘em even score the TD. There is only .13 seconds left in the game and BAM the Rams score on a 29 yard TD pass to Randy MacMichael from Gus Frerote to cut the lead to 5 and you got it they go for the 2 point conversion and get it ! Brady loses $1,100 on the Cardnials by the half point with only .13 seconds left in the game.

Now he switches the game back over to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have the ball at their own 15 yard line and the clock is ticking with only .40 seconds to go in the game with the Patroits winning by 10 and a score of 27 - 17. Brady thought to himself, please Dear GOD don’t let him throw an interception for a turnover TD. If only Brady had prayed not for the fumble, because that is just what had happend as he ended his prayer. The Browns fumbled the ball and Randall Gay picked up the football and ran 15 yards losing Brady’s money with only .40 seconds to go in the game and winning the game 34 - 17 while losing only by half point.

Oh GOD, why me screamed Brady as his dog started barking and his little girls started laughing. He l ooked around and saw all that he had in his home. The beautiful family with his wonderful wife and precious little girls was more than enough to let him forget what had just happened in the NFL. Dear GOD thank YOU for all of my families health and happiness which is more important than to win $2,000. The game ain’t over until the Fat Lady sings and on this Sunday Brady is singing the blues and the man is collecting next week. Brady knows that it is a marathon and not a sprint. There will go be good days and bad days with all of us. Today was a bad day to win money, but a GREAT day to be alive!

2007 SEC Football Report

The SEC is the toughest and biggest football conference in the land with any team able to win any given night. Florida Gators are the defending national champions, however this year the championship trophy could go to LSU or maybe Tennessee, but what about Georgia and don't forget about that new coach at Alabama.

LSU Tigers return 8 starters on defense and have a very nasty unit on that side of the ball. This will be Head Coach Les Miles 3rd season with the Tigers and he will do everyhing in his power to win the SEC title. The Tennessee Vols will make a run for the title with Erik Ainge behind the center. His uncle Danny Ainge should teach him how to make the big play after all the big trades he has came up with for the Boston Celtics this past summer. Their big game with the Gators from Florida will see Tim Tebow's talent, but he will be lost with nine starters from his defense that are gone from last season. Arkansas will have the best backfield in the country with Mr. Heisman canidate Darren McFadden and his buddy Mr. Felix Jones, however the passing game will have no respect from their opponents defense and this will allow nine guys in the box to stop the run. The Auburn Tigers will have the toughest road schedule and coach Tommy Tuberville believes his team has the top quaterback in the country with Brandon Cox. It sure will be interesting to see what Nick Saban can do in Tuscaloosa for all those die hard Crimson Tide fans, they truly believe in miracles at Alabama. A ton of defensive starters gone will not help their miracle this year, however they do return nine offensive starters with no proven running game. Only time will tell in T'Town.

The bottom of the barrell in the SEC will not be making any noise unless quarterback Matthew Stafford can make some noise for the Georgia Bulldogs, but it will be tough in the East of the SEC. You can't leave out Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks from South Carolina, they return quarterback Black Mitchell and running back Cory Boyd and a good defense. Vanderbilt and Kentucky will have their explosive offense and may have an upset or two between them. Vanderbilt just doesn't have enough talent for Tennessee and Florida on the road. Kentucky has an explosive quarterback Andre Woodson that could make some defenses struggle at Lexington.

The two schools left are from the same state in Mississippi, the Bulldogs and Rebels will fight for the bottom of the barrell. The Mississippi State Bulldogs do return ten offensive starters and that should be the best offense Coach Sylvester Croom has had to play with since being at Starkville. Ole Miss lost their MVP in Patrick Willis to the NFL and that was about all they had to talk about last year. Coach O better come up with some no names or his name will be up for coaching back west as an assistant.

The 2007 SEC Football Schedule will be more entertaining than the last years, because of so many teams that can contend for the title. Tennessee, Florida or Georgia out of the east and how about Aurburn, Arkansas, LSU and can't forget about Alabama with their new coach out of the west. It will be exciting to see how the season will turn out and I can't wait for the first game between LSU at Mississippi State to get it started.

Betting on NFL Pre-Season…

I enjoy the opportunity to view and wager on preseason NFL games. I have learned some predictable trends and key situations that can boost my bankroll before the NFL regular season begins. It is never too early for NFL.

Some things to key on during preseason NFL are below and remember that Week 1 of the preseason usually offers little value. Coaches will tell the media what their goal and agenda is going to be for the upcoming game that week. How many snaps will their starting QB be taking and how many years of experience are their second and third string quarterbacks ? Depth is something the experts say can't be ignored when betting the preseason, particularly with quarterbacks. How long will we expect to see the starters on both sides of the ball, usually the starters play more as the preseason continues during the weeks . All teams are fully motivated in regular season play. That is not true in preseason. Find teams that are very motivated against teams that are not playing to full potential for a variety of reasons and you will have a strong play.

You need to know what a coach is trying to accomplish and most of the time a new coach will want to instill a winning attitude. Other coaches just want to make sure their starters don't get hurt. Head coaches on the hot seat or new coaches trying to implement a winning strategy with new faces usually try harder to win in the preseason.

A sports bettor must always keep the "number" in mind when handicapping a game. However, with certain teams in certain situations, I am here to tell you, over the long haul, it just does not matter in NFL Pre-Season.
